About us...
Opened in 2011, the museum has been the culmination of the dream of a small team of volunteers, who were loathe to see the old railway station at the small seaside town of Borth fall into disrepair.
Many months of hard campaigning, applying for support, and of course, a lot of blood sweat and tears saw the old ticket office, managers office and waiting room transformed from the derelict and abandoned shell into a true representation of how it was in its glory days back in the 1900's.
After many months of hard work, the station museum opened and has proved to be surprisingly popular with tourists, visitors, rail and heritage enthusiasts alike - many of whom make their jounreys to mid Wales especially to see this incredible little hidden gem, tucked away in the once bustling seaside resort of Borth.
Borth Station Volunteers (BSV) consists of 30 members who are all interested in and supportive of the developments at the station. We welcome anyone who'd like to be involved - either as an active addition to our team of volunteers, or people who'd like to become supporters of this important rail based local heritage project. Do contact us if you'd like to find out more.

We have been overwhelmed by support from passengers whenever we are on the platform. BSV have already won 3 National Awards for involving the community , providing artworks on the platform and environmental improvements, The 1st from Arriva Trains Wales, 2nd from Network Rail as part of its National Environmental Award Scheme, and the 3rd from Tidy Wales.
We have also been shortlisted and received a highly commended certificate for our work in refurbishing the station in the recent Railway Heritage Awards.
Our aim is and has always been to provide a refurbished and vibrant centre of activity in a building which was previously derelict and neglected, which is both an educational and social resource.
We look forward to seeing you at the museum, and hope that your visit will be an enjoyable experience.
